NBA reschedules Warriors game against Lakers in April – The Mercury News

The NBA announced it’s moving the Warriors’ scheduled game in Los Angeles against the Lakers from April 9 to April 7 to accommodate the rescheduling of another Lakers game postponed in the wake of Kobe Bryant’s death.

The Warriors, who have at times been moved off national television this season while suffering through their worst season in years, will remain on TNT when they take on the Lakers on Tuesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. PT.

The network’s decision to keep the Warriors-Lakers can probably be summed up in five words: Stephen Curry against LeBron James. Curry is expected to return from a broken hand in March and the April 7 game would give viewers another look at a matchup of the two Akron, Ohio-born superstars.

The schedule change will create a bit of a challenge for the Lakers, who’ll now be playing on three consecutive days for the first time since the strike-shortened 2011-12 season.

The Lakers’ originally scheduled game against the Clippers on Jan. 28 at Staples Center was two days after Bryant’s tragic death in a helicopter crash in Southern California.

After facing the Warriors on April 7, the Lakers will host the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday, April 8 before taking on the Clippers on the 9th.

The schedule shuffle also affects another of the Clippers’ games. Their originally scheduled game against the Bulls on Wednesday, April 8 has been moved to Monday, April 6 at Staples.
