Krug placed on injured reserve by Bruins – NHL.com

Torey Krug was placed on injured reserve by the Boston Bruins on Friday.

The 28-year-old defenseman sustained an upper-body injury in Boston’s 7-3 win against the Washington Capitals on Monday. He leads Bruins defensemen in scoring this season with 26 points (five goals, 21 assists) in 33 games. 

The Bruins recalled defenseman Steven Kampfer from Providence of the American Hockey League. The 31-year-old has no points in four games with the Bruins this season and four assists in six games with Providence. He has 32 points (13 goals, 19 assists) in 205 NHL games with the Bruins, Minnesota Wild, Florida Panthers and New York Rangers.

The Atlantic Division-leading Bruins play the Buffalo Sabres at KeyBank Center on Friday (7 p.m. ET; ESPN+, SN1, SNE, SNP, MSG-B, NESN, NHL.TV) in the opener of a home-and-home series that concludes Sunday at TD Garden.
